#7 Tyrell Williams v. WAS Wk. 14 #7.) Tyrell Williams v. Redskins - 4 catches http://www.authenticlosangeleschargers.c...ane-jersey , 132 receiving yards, 1 touchdownAfter getting a full season of Keenan Allen and Tyrell Williams together on the field, I’ve really grown to like their play-styles and how well they compliment each other. You can see it throughout the box-scores. Allen’s “catches” column is filled with numbers like 7, 9, 10, and 11 while Williams’ stats are usually around the 3-6 range. However, while Allen’s yards per catch is closer to 15, Tyrell’s is likely somewhere in the mid-to-late twenties. It’s an awesome problem to have, if we’re being honest. A true WR1 is a beautiful thing and the ability for one player to take the majority of attention from the defense while a couple speedsters takes advantage of lapse in judgement is even more desirable. In the match-up against the Redskins Color Rush Derwin James Jersey , Tyrell put up a stat line that is exactly what we have come to expect from the former UDFA out of Western Oregon. On the very first play from scrimmage, with Williams lined up in the slot, he took advantage of a mismatch on a linebacker as he ran a deep crossing route around the defender for an easy catch and run for a gain of 34 yards. With 10 minutes left in the second quarter, it took the Chargers just one play to score as Williams did what he does best: be faster than everyone else.Starting in the slot on the left, Rivers motioned Williams to the other side before taking the snap. With the corner sitting back pretty far in coverage, #16 ran straight up the field, eating any cushion previously given by the defender. With a subtle step into the defenders body, Williams was able to separate just enough to cut off his deep post route. Rivers launched a perfect pass which Tyrell caught in-stride for a 75-yard touchdown catch.Williams’ last catch came at the end of the first half when he came back for the ball after seeing Rivers under duress in the pocket. With the cornerback so worried about getting deep, Williams was able to stop on a dime and give Rivers a wide open target as the defender struggled to slow down in time.Tyrell’s heroics in the first-half helped the Chargers establish a hefty 23-6 lead at the break that would never be surrendered as the Chargers walked away victorious from their week 14 match-up.When Will Derwin James Start Working With The First Team? After two practices and a scrimmage http://www.authenticlosangeleschargers.c...ams-jersey , Derwin James has spent almost all of his time working with the second-team defense. This may have some fans puzzled as the team obviously didn’t select James to not start on this defense. He was a massive need for the team and will be treated as such, but they are likely giving him some time to get acclimated before sticking him with the 1s.In his debut on Thursday, head coach Anthony Lynn said James “looked great” and that the rookie had been ready to go several days prior but the team didn’t want to rush him, whatsoever. He later added, “It’s one of those situations where we don’t want this to linger, so we’re being overly cautious.”According to our very own Ruben Gonzalez, James lined up everywhere across the defense throughout the scrimmage. He split time between lining up in the box and back deep while spending some time in the slot defending tight ends and running backs. This is great to hear as James possesses the skills necessary to line up almost everywhere and that skill-set should be utilized once he really starts to nail down the defensive playbook.
